Dealing with The Sh** Show

My partner and I oftentimes find ourselves dealing with ‘The Sh** Show’.

It always seems to be one thing after another, and sometimes a great number of things all colliding at once.

The stress comes from every angle: family, work, relationships, commitments, communication, timing, sickness, and more..

We call it a ‘Sh** Show’ because it encapsulates the constant entanglement of unpredictable and uncontrollable circumstances we have to navigate through.

This vernacular seems appropriate, not only because it's foul, but also because it appears to be as if it was written out for us.

An orchestra of stress and unfortunate events.

A show worthy of entertainment.

This year, relative to others, really seems to hit the mark.

In 2023, ‘The Sh** Show’ has really been among us.

As I describe our year, you might have, or recall, some mutual feelings.

Years, months, or days that you didn’t feel like you’d come out on top.

One thing after another.

Okay, well this article isn’t written for us to sulk in our own pity, but for us to laugh at it.

Dealing with ‘The Sh** Show’ is about detaching from our own emotions, seeing it from a third party perspective.

Seeing the satire and humor in the misery.

You can’t go back and change the past, so wishing you would have done something different is a waste of time and energy.

You can’t change people, so hoping that this person would have done this or that, is irrelevant.

If you are blaming yourself for something you wish you did, or didn’t do, you are not only being the torturer but the victim of torture.

Circumstances and what life gives to you, is what you make of it.

Wishing for something different, is not living in the present, but living in the past.

Whether you are feeling this way or not, just know that life is one big ‘Sh** Show’ and regardless of how “figured out” you have it now, or may feel, just wait for it to unravel.

No one is an exception.

You can either cry about it or laugh about it.

I prefer the latter.
